SAIS Library staff are here to support faculty and students with course work and research.
This guide answers some frequently asked questions by SAIS faculty. For more details about SAIS Library services and policies, see About The Library.
Please contact us by email or at 202-663-5901 if you have questions or would like to schedule a meeting with a reference librarian to learn more about library resources and services.

ID Info (for new faculty)
In order to borrow library books, new faculty will need to present a JHU ID (Jcard) to the SAIS Library Circulation Desk so we can enter its barcode in the Library's system. The SAIS Business Office issues JCards.
Remote Access to Databases
In order to access library databases from off-campus, new faculty will need to have a JHED ID and password. See the SAIS Academic Affairs/Faculty Resources page for information on setting up your password.
Faculty who are not yet on payroll but need advance access to library resources in order to plan their course readings should contact Julie Micek (firstname.lastname@example.org, 202-663-5713) in Academic Affairs to arrange for a JCard and JHED ID.
Faculty who are currently teaching but not on payroll and want off-campus access to library resources may need to email email@example.com to request that their JHED preferences be set up so they’re recognized as JHU faculty.
For a complete list of all JHU online resources, see:
SAIS Library Research Guides provide help in discovering both online and print resources.
