Welcome

"Good scholarship requires not only careful research but also clear writing." - SAIS Professor Bruce Parrott

This guide seeks to point you to some online, print, and human resources at SAIS that can help enhance your research and writing skills.

SAIS Writing Center

Did you know that SAIS has a Writing Center that serves all SAIS students, including native speakers of English?  Its staff are  available to help with issues of organization, style, grammar, citation conventions, and word choice. They  give language-related advice only; for help with content, consult a reference librarian.

For more information, including hours of operation, see the Writing Center's website.

What is RefWorks?

RefWorks is an online "citation manager" that helps you keep track of citations you gather during research. It is free to all JHU users, utilizing the JHED ID as a login. It also works with Word, allowing you to embed references as you write.

For details, see the RefWorks guide.
